Spring Primary School Programme Launched

Riverbank Arts Centre is delighted to present a new programme for Primary Schools this Spring which includes a range of online interactive events/workshops and a return to live events in our theatre.

LIVE PERFORMANCES:
We have a fabulous show with music and puppetry to welcome you and your class back to Riverbank Arts Centre – A VERY OLD MAN WITH ENORMOUS WINGS (23 March)is a stunning adaptation for the stage of Gabriel García Márquez short story – live music & beautiful design this tale will enchant and inspire children (aged 10+).  FALL & FLOAT (8 April) is a new dance performance for young children by choreographer Mónica Muñoz, featuring two dancers and lots of balloons! STRONGWOMEN SCIENCE (19 May) is an exciting circus science show – find out how jugglers, acrobats and hula hoop artists use science to create their amazing acts.  

WHITEBOARD/INTERACTIVE EVENTS:
Join children’s writer Oisín McGann for a reading & discussion prompted by his new book
A SHORT HOPEFUL GUIDE TO CLIMATE CHANGE (1 & 2 March). Super Paua are back with SCIENCE/ART workshops (8-11 March) and also we are delighted to present screenings (in classroom) of their new film THE LONSDALE PROJECT. These are live ZOOM sessions, so early booking is advised. As the Kildare partner of Fighting Words, we are offer FREE online  Creative Writing Workshops, led by Peirina Campbell (these are fully booked at present, but please contact us to go on the list for next season). 

PRE-RECORDED THEATRE/READINGS:
We have a new theatre show available as an online film to view in your classrooms  Paul Curley’s POLAR BEAR AND PENGUIN (Jan & Feb) is a warm-hearted tale for young audiences, infused with fish & friendship! This is a recording and comes with lots of follow on activities for the classroom. Caith seal le scríbhneoir Muireann Ní Chíobháin agus í ag léamh a leabhar EOINÍN (14 Feb-25 April) faoi uan beag agus a eitleog (bilingual- Irish/English recording for younger classes).

VISUAL ART:
EXQUISITE PORTRAITS (Foyer Gallery, 14 Jan – 26 Feb) features work by some of our finest children’s book illustrators and we have created some great engagement materials for your class to enjoy. THE LABYRINTH by Ulrike Liebetrau (McKenna Gallery, 4 March-24 April) is a multi-sensory art installation for all ages with sculptures made from recycled/upcycled materials. You can book a gallery visit (and we’ll provide engagement sheets) or visit our exhibitions with your class when you are attending events.
