Cassiopeia: a group of five bright stars, to be found in the northern sky in the shape of a W.

Cassiopeia Winds: a group of five exceptional musicians whose sheer joy in performing together is contagious.

Cassiopeia Winds is an Irish chamber wind ensemble formed in 2010, whose performances are marked by vivacity, panache and a dedication to the exploration of fine sound-worlds. Though the ensemble has the capacity to expand or contract to suit its innovative programming, at its core is a quintet of players whose members are among the finest in the country.

Quality of sound, liveliness, and style are the trade-marks of this quintet, which brings a real sense of excitement and fun to their music making.

The programme includes two world premieres::
Alexander von Zemlinsky: Humoreske (Rondo)
W A Mozart: Adagio & Allegro
Jonathan Nangle: The Sun hovered briefly on the horizon (world premier)
Valerie Coleman: Red Clay & Mississippi Delta
Amy Beach: Pastorale
Adele O’Dwyer: Three Chromatic Miniatures (world premier)
Luciano Berio: Opus Number Zoo
