Writing for Theatre – Young Playwrights Programme

Fighting Words are leading a playwriting programme at Riverbank Arts Centre that will support young writers (18-21 years) to create a new work for the stage. In a series of group workshops led by the Fighting Words team, participants will learn playwriting skills including how to write characters and structure a duologue. The writers will receive supportive feedback on their work and will be encouraged to realise their artistic vision.

The plays created during this programme will also have the opportunity to be performed on the Riverbank stage in 2020 and will be published in Playshare, an anthology of plays created for young people by Youth Theatre Ireland.

Fighting Words Young Playwrights Programme (for ages 18-21) will be led by Hilary Fannin and Una Kavanagh, and supported by our Fighting Words volunteers.
In addition, participants will be offered a Theatre Pass to see all theatre productions at Riverbank Arts Centre in Autumn and Spring for FREE (including Blue Raincoat’s SHACKLETON; PJ Gallagher/Una McKevitt’s MADHOUSE; Deirdre Kinahan’s HALCYON DAYS; Timmy Creed’s SPLICED – and many, many more)

Dates: The programme begins on the 5th October, 2019.

Applications will be accepted until 5pm Weds 25th  September and will be assessed by a panel from Fighting Words, Riverbank Arts Centre, and Youth Theatre Ireland. The successful applicants will be notified by 26th September. Please note, there are limited places available and this programme is free for participants.
