House Lights

Theatre making for audiences

House Lights is a collaboration between Riverbank and Crooked House. It is a theatre devising project where audiences get to make their own show.

Are you 55 or over? Have you ever been to performances in Riverbank and wondered what it would be like to be the one on stage? Or maybe you have been on stage many times and would like to do something there again?

We are delighted to launch a new programme for adult audience members aged over 55. It’s called House Lights, and it consists of weekly drama workshops led by Crooked House Theatre Company. We will go through the process of creating an ensemble, learning about devising theatre, offering ideas and experiences that can be shaped into performance material, rehearsing, collating and putting a show together.

The process will take several months, starting in October with weekly two-hour workshops. There will be a performance at the end, in May 2026, during Age & Opportunity’s Bealtaine Festival – Ireland’s national celebration of the arts and creativity as we age.

House Lights promises to be an inclusive, thoroughly enjoyable project that require no previous experience in performance. Workshop times and dates will be decided by the group once it has formed. The project is free, supported by Crooked House and Riverbank.

To apply to take part, please fill in the Google online form here or email/call into Riverbank for a hard copy form.

Deadline for submission of applications is Friday 26th September 2025.
