YOUTH THEATRE: Kildare Youth Theatre Presents Fishville by Afsaneh Gray
Wednesday 25th March, 2026 - 20:00

The story starts when a young man named Jared takes to the sea in swimming gear but never starts swimming.
Following the unexpected sale of his parents’ house, the community is thrown into chaos.
When the daughter of the man who bought Jared’s house arrives in Saltwell and finds a severed foot washed up at her feet, she and the daughter of the ‘second homers’ decide to investigate what drove Jared into the sea.
They uncover a local myth about an underwater community. Did Jared believe the myth? With the new girl’s father spending more and more time in the sea, and the myth gaining traction, the young people must figure out what’s going on before anybody else is lost to a vengeful ocean.
Directed by Yakup Bas, this production is one of over 400 being staged across Ireland and the UK as part of the National Theatre (UK) Connections programme. Crooked House has taken part with Kildare Youth Theatre in this programme since 2003, staging over 50 new plays for teenagers by contemporary playwrights. The cast of 16 young people come from all over Kildare, many performing for the first time with Kildare Youth Theatre.
