Sunday 3rd December, 2017 - 20:00€18 – €20
Vladimir & Anton are back to wow audiences with more of their flamboyance, charm, wit and virtuosic skill. Join them on this sentimental journey as the duelling brothers premiere brand new arrangements of well-known songs that we’ve all grown up with.
Vladimir and Anton are Slovakian sibling musicians with a shared rare gift – mastery of the classical violin. These young virtuosi have been playing together for almost twenty years. Described by the London Evening Standard as, “the Nigel Kennedy’s of their nation”, Vladimir & Anton push their instruments and each other on to ever greater heights of artistic expression, joyful harmony and thrilling duels. This is sibling rivalry sound-tracked like you have never heard it before.
Growing up in hot house full of music in Bratislava, surrounded with the constant rigours of daily study and practice, Vladimir rejected his pre-ordained path and left for Ireland in 2004; dreaming of a life of salmon fishing in County Kerry but ended up busking on Grafton Street to make ends meet. From this humble beginning, Vladimir has gone on to establish himself as one of the brightest young stars on the Irish classical scene. A musician of “people’s hearts”, Vladimir has concerts and recordings that show his love of both classical and contemporary music.
Meanwhile, after winning numerous competitions, Anton found his own sanctuary deep in academic bliss in Switzerland completing his Music Masters Degree in with Honours. This was then directly followed by a Solo Diploma at the acclaimed Conservatorio della Svizzera Italiana in Lugano. Armed with this power of knowledge, Anton has developed a flair for improvisation and practises fusing new and old world beats.
It is the unique combination of such different musical experiences that make these blood brothers perform together in concert like you have never heard before.
This thrilling collision of sounds, passion, fraternal harmony and rivalry combines to wonderful effect in Vladimir & Anton’s must-see live concerts.
