Join writer Patricia Forde for Seachtain na Gaeilge as she reads from her book, Mise Agus An Dragún in Irish and also two of her popular English-language picture books Imagine and Fidget: The Wonder Dog. 

Gentle storytelling sessions in Irish and English for younger classes with award-winning author, Patricia Forde.  Patricia reads from three of her picture books (illustrations shown on screen) and she has created worksheets for follow-up discussions and activities in the classroom.

Video 1: In Imagine, a little girl  confides in her grandmother about her fear of pirates, monsters  and the big dog down the lane… Each time, her grandmother suggests a funny situation to imagine, to help her overcome her fears and anxieties. The big dog isn’t so scary anymore when you imagine him on roller-skates! And pirates aren’t so frightening once they put away their swords and start playing with their dolls! Fidget the Wonder Dog tells the story of a dog who runs away and has an epic adventure.  Fidget is a bouncy, lovable pet and his owner is a little girl with a big imagination. 

Video 2: This video is entirely in Irish.  Patricia reads from one of her well-loved books: Mise Agus an Dragún, a tale in which a little bear dreams of big adventures: chasing a dragon, rescuing a prince, and flying high over the ocean. All that stands in his way are his own fears. Can he overcome the terrible robot, the ferocious cow and his fear of heights, all before bedtime?  Only time will tell…
