A 40-minute online workshop for a class of schoolchildren aged 7+ by cellist and composer Greg Sinclair. The purpose of the workshop is to introduce the class to the sounds and musical range of the cello. In the session the class will also creatively explore graphic notation – a bold, colourful form of composition.
What to expect during the session:
- An Introduction by Greg to the cello – a short recital / showcase of various techniques and sounds.
- A child-friendly explanation of graphic notation – how different marks on paper can be turned into music.
- Composition time – the class will create a large graphic score using paper, pens and items from the classroom.
- Performance – Greg will perform the class composition on his cello, making a recording to send to the class to listen again.
