SCHOOLS: Síomha and the Otherworld
Thursday 29th May, 2025 - 10:30

In the heart of Donegal, Síomha’s ready for their biggest protest yet. No one’s building a hotel. Especially over Aunty Deirdre’s fairy fort. This will end in agóid not tragóid.
Síomha invites you into this unearthly fort that hums with stories, secrets, and shadows. Why are we here?
As Síomha faces a changing world, they return to the tales Aunty Deirdre once told of the Tuath Dé Dannan, Oileán Thoraí and finding magic in dark places. Past and present begin to blur, and even the biggest feelings can be braved.
Síomha and the Otherworld is an immersive performance for children aged 9+, designed for one class group at a time. With flickering lights, dancing projections, and spritely sound, join Síomha on a playful journey through memory, myth, and emotion.
This production explores themes of memory and love and may be emotionally challenging for those experiencing a recent bereavement.
Recommended for ages 9+ (4th class and up), Síomha and the Otherworld is an invitation to explore the power of stories – those we tell, those that are passed down, and those we create to make sense of the world around us.
This piece is performed in English with lots of Irish language interspersed throughout the play.
Drama workshops and resource packs are available as part of the production.
We would be very interested to hear feedback from the students directly afterwards, so there will be a short 15 –20-minute feedback session at the end.
Suitable for 4th-6th Class.
Runtime: 45 mins (+20 min feedback session directly after)
One class per show
Performances at 10:30am & 12pm
