Ibsen’s classic play was greeted with shock in 1879, with both its style and subject matter being seen as subversive. It premiered in Copenhagen at the dawn of the suffragette movement and continues to be one of the world’s most performed plays. It ushered modern drama onto centre stage, banishing aristocratic comedy and melodrama to the side-line. The ending of the play, a slammed door, sent shockwaves around the world that still echo today.

Kildare Youth Theatre present a new spin on this classic, featuring actors drawn from all over Europe, Russia, Ukraine and beyond.

Kildare Youth Theatre’s production is directed by Mary Linehan and features a multicultural, international cast. Especially made for schools- the play is on the Ordinary and Higher Leaving Cert English syllabus.
