Gustavo de Morais Quartet brings the essence of Brazilian music with a contemporary touch, they bring in their repertoire compositions of renowned Brazilian composers as well as original compositions.

GUSTAVO DE MORAIS – GUITAR
Gustavo de Morais, a Brazilian guitarist living in Ireland, blends his Brazilian background with modern music. He accompanies and improvises, bringing spontaneity, beautiful melodies, and lively energy to his performances. In Brazil, he played in different music groups, exploring traditional genres like Samba, Bossa Nova, Forró, and Axé, which influenced his versatility and rhythmic skills.
Since 2017, Gustavo has been in Ireland, collaborating and performing with musicians on and off the island. He has studied with notable musicians such as Mike Stern, Mike Moreno, and Nelson Faria, and draws inspiration from artists like Daniel Santiago and João Gilberto. Gustavo’s passion for music shines through his unique fusion of Brazilian and contemporary styles, making him a memorable presence in Dublin’s music scene.

ANDRE ANTUNES – DRUMS
Andre Antunes, a Brazilian/Irish drummer and producer, brings over 25 years of experience in performance and studio recording. Born and raised in Salvador, Bahia, known for its vibrant Brazilian rhythms, Andre began his musical journey in the church and immersed himself in the Brazilian tradition. In Brazil, he recorded and toured nationally with renowned artists like Edu Ribeiro, Xexeu, and Leo Maia. Spending six years in Sao Paolo, he traveled extensively, playing with international acts and dance companies in 20 different countries. Since arriving in Ireland in 2006, Andre has become one of the country’s leading drummers. He collaborated with prominent Irish group Republic of Loose and worked alongside legendary producers Ken Thomas and Rob Kirwan. His recordings and performances include notable names like Hozier, Gavin Friday, Sinead O’Connor, Amy Winehouse, and Damien Dempsey, among others. As a member of Republic of Loose, Andre’s contributions helped earn nominations at the Meteor Awards. In 2019, he received the Gold Medal of Honorary Patronage from Trinity College’s Philosophical Society. He released his first record, “POVO,” with Darach O’laoire in 2015 and joined the alt-folk/jazz sextet Irish band Leafzang in 2013. THOMAS MAXWELL – PIANO
Tom Maxwell is a pianist, organist and music director in both the classical and jazz scenes. He has a rich diversity of musical genres that he is comfortable in, including jazz, choral music, musical theatre and of organ music, all of which he brings to his own playing. Over the years, he has been involved in tours across the UK and Europe with cathedral choirs and other ensembles.

AIDAN GREY – BASS
Aidan Gray is a bassist and composer based in Dublin, Ireland. Working primarily in the field of jazz, he regularly performs with the country’s top improvising musicians, including Michael Buckley, Matthew Jacobson, Greg Felton and many others. Aidan co-leads the group ‘Homeowners’ and regularly plays with groups across the musical spectrum, being involved in tours across the UK, Italy, France, Romania and more. Along with drummer Michael McCarthy, Aidan cocurates the weekly ‘Jazz at Juno’ series which features international and national acts performing original music. Aidan is supported by Music Network, the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media, Longford County Council and The Arts Council.
