FIRST FORTNIGHT: Griese Youth Theatre presents: Burying Your Brother in the Pavement

Burying Your Brother in the Pavement by Jack Thorne is a play that tackles the story of a teenage girl grieving for her dead brother with emotional honesty and imaginative flair. Written specifically for young people, it was commissioned as part of the 2008 National Theatre Connections Festival and premiered by youth theatres across the UK and Ireland. Griese Youth Theatre from Ballitore, County Kildare originally staged this show in Riverbank Arts Centre in June 2018.

Griese Youth Theatre (GYT) was founded in 1999 in Ballitore South Kildare. The group strives to nurture both the artistic and social development of the young person through participation in drama and other art forms including dance, film, Youth Initiative and Youth Exchange projects.

There will be a panel discussion following this performance. The Panel includes:

Leish Burke, Artistic Director, Griese Youth Theatre

Mary Duffin, theatre practitioner and writer, collaborator in Acting for the Future programme by Smashing Times

Kiki Martire, Outreach and Training Officer, SpunOut.ie

Terri Thorpe, Chairwoman of HOPE (D), a voluntary mental health organisation and counselling service based in Newbridge

The panel will be chaired Ian Mulholland , First Fortnight volunteer.
