Candlelit Tales Storytelling Skills
Saturday 31st January, 2026 - 14:00

Candlelit Tales are a group of storytellers who have been working with Irish mythology since 2014. We have developed an energetic, interactive workshop, using game-based learning to highlight the skills needed for Storytelling for Kildare County Council’s Brigid, Spirit of Kildare Festival.
We at Candlelit Tales believe in the power of storytelling and mythology. Human beings are storytelling animals. Our recall, our understanding of the world, is based on the stories we construct to explain ourselves, our cultures, and our place in the world. We first learn everything through stories as children, and we continue to form narratives with the information we receive as we grow up.
Many of us are cut off from the imbas, the poetic inspiration of Brigid, and find ourselves clamming up or stumbling to a stop when asked to speak or tell a story. This workshop is designed to get you to find your voice as a storyteller, maybe for the first time, or to refine your skills if you’re a practiced raconteur!
Learning how to tell stories increases your ability to think narratively and absorb information more easily. The skills we focus on in our workshops are:
- Improvisation & Adaptability
- Physicality and Engagement
- Breath, Voice & Communication
- Personalisation & Recall
