An Nollaig sa Naigín

Ar Lá Nollag cúig bhliain as a chéile a shuitear an leagan seo do DHAOINE FÁSTA (ADULTS) den saothar cáiliúil ‘An Nollaig sa Naigín’ (‘Christmas in The Noggin’). It is a sensitive seasonal presentation of the magical time that is Christmas and is specially adapted for a grown-up audience. All is conveyed through the spoken word (as Gaeilge), song and music.

Trí shúile an pháiste sna blianta fáis idir 6-10 bliain a chuirtear an léiriúchán seo i láthair. It features the innocence and growing awareness of the child in those early years – a time of undoubting simplicity that lends itself to revelling in the magic that comes the way at the end of every year.

Tá San Nioclás ann, ar ndóigh, mar atá an sneachta, agus in éindí leis an ngliondar agus an taitneamh a ghabhann leis an dá ghné sin den Nollaig, tá an tsollúntacht (solemnity) ann, chomh maith – a solemnity that defines this special time of year.

Ach anuas air sin, tá an borradh ceistiúcháin úd a bhíonn ar gor san intinn óg le sonrú ar an gcarachtar láir, and we see the young child trying to make sense of the world and, most particularly, of the meaning of the happenings and adult conversations that he hears around him – tarlúintí agus comhráití a thugann a dhúshlán agus a éilíonn mórchuid ar a leibhéal tuisceana.

This presentation is infused with a familial and universal love, with a humaneness and innocence, while, at the same time, attending to the issues of injustice and loss, rud a thugann an duine fásta ar aistear séasúrach a ghriogann an meon ar leibhéil éagsúla.

Ré Ó Laighléis delivers sensitively of his work and is beautifully complemented by amhránaíocht bhinnbhriathardha agus ceol a chuid comhpháirtithe, Pádraig Cleary agus Shearie Fean.
