All the President’s Books is a picture book exhibition by artist Peter Donnelly based on his bestselling series of children’s books. In 2017 Peter pitched his first idea to the publisher, Nicki Howard at Gill Books. The President’s Glasses went on to become the best-selling picture book of the year and was shortlisted in the Irish book awards. It concerned a much-loved President, a very hard-working pigeon and a funny caper through Dublin city. Three more successful books followed, The President’s Cat, The President’s Surprise and the recently published The President’s Dog. Each book in the series takes us on a new adventure introducing well known landmarks with the President and a host of colourful characters.

The President Books have become firm favourites with children in Ireland both at home and in school libraries. The books have been featured many times throughout the media, in television, radio and print.

This exhibition will include some never-before-seen artwork from the four books such as early designs and sketches, pencil storyboards and full colour illustrations. Follow the process of how Peter makes a picture book from his very first drawings to the final cover and immerse yourself in the world of All the President’s Books!
