This year, Riverbank Arts Centre was delighted to be awarded a substantial grant from the Department of Arts to make major improvements to the facilities.
We were extremely proud to be selected as one of the Department’s flagship projects- one of two centres in the country to receive the top award of €1m- and grateful of the matching support we have received from Kildare County Council.

For the past number of years, the team at Riverbank Arts Centre has been working hard to present a high quality programme that reaches and serves the broad and diverse community in Kildare and surrounding areas. We’ve been particularly focused on delivering an excellent arts experience for young audiences from babies and toddlers through to secondary school students and families.

The grant we’ve been awarded will help to significantly improve the facilities in the venue in terms of seating comfort, accessibility and capacity as well improvements to the stage size, allowing us to attract larger scale productions. It’s a fantastic opportunity to greatly enhance the experience that you as an audience member will have.

The Bigger Picture…

However, we’d like to go a leap further and dramatically transform the ways in which people can access arts experiences and how you interact with the centre. We have a masterplan or future vision which would bring the centre’s entrance down to ground level for ease of access and greater connection with the community. It would provide a dedicated Children’s Gallery, a large workshop space for outreach and education programmes, large visual arts space while greatly enhancing the streetscape of Newbridge. This development would also include a universal adult changing facility, making the centre fully user-friendly for performers and patrons of all physical abilities. It would allow Riverbank Arts Centre to become visible as a flagship cultural hub in Kildare.

This season we’re inviting you to support us in our goal to achieve this major transformation and join us on this exciting and ambitious journey. We’re asking patrons to support us in whatever way they can, be it a voluntary donation when purchasing a ticket or pick Riverbank Arts Centre as your nominated charity in the workplace.
