‘Spectacular performance…. a thoroughly immersive experience’ – Meath Chronicle on Sightless Cinema

Following a successful debut outing at the Riverbank in 2024, Sightless Cinema return with their new show. Dog’s Life is a programme of immersive surround sound audio plays, which are a feast for the imagination – because all the pictures are in your head. Optional blindfolds are provided to help bring you into the world of Sightless Cinema.

The programme includes Open Fire, a comedy set during a week-long electricity black-out after a storm, where Nora, the only one in the district with hot water, gets a string of unwelcome visitors, and one she might like to stay; The Devil’s Sliotar is a fun folk horror about a village desperate to lift the curse and win the county hurling final at last; finally A Dog’s Life which lets us hear the voices of a litter of guide dog pups in training, taking their final guide dog test course.

The evening will also feature some live audio dramas performed on stage by members of the Sightless Cinema Network from three counties.

In its eleventh successful year, Sightless Cinema is a collaborative arts project for people with sight loss to devise and produce audio theatre, led by director Ciarán Taylor. Groups from Laois, Meath and South Dublin join forces again to present Dog’s Life. A new Sightless Cinema group is being established at Riverbank Arts Centre in September.
