9th Irish Military Seminar
The 9th Irish Military will take place on Friday 16 May & Saturday 17 May in Riverbank Arts Centre, with an exciting programme of lectures with renowned historians and authors. All events are free of charge but booking is essential.
A highlight of the annual seminar is the Friday evening event focusing on the Defence Forces, which this year features a presentation by author Ray Lane on his recently released critically acclaimed book Only a Soldier Knows. Former and serving members of the Defence Forces are especially welcome. Tickets for this event must be booked in advance. Wheelchair users or anyone with mobility aids/issues are asked to contact the Box Office directly to book tickets – 045 44832.
Saturday’s programme will consist of presentations on ‘The Irish in the Resistance in WWII,’ by Clodagh Finn and John Morgan; Republican leader Rory O’Connor by Gerard Shannon; the ‘Irish Military in France 1690-1815,’ by Stephen McGarry; and ‘Conflict in Colour,’ by Michael B. Barry and John O’Byrne.
