For fans of Highly Strung, there’s only one place to be on this solstice evening. The ladies are delighted to return to the Riverbank for their annual Christmas show of classics old and new with a twist. The four friends’ diverse musical backgrounds generates an original, warm sound which for many heralds the start of the festive season. Highly Strung lets the light in on the darkest night of the year with a quirky perspective on favourites from O’Carolan to Coldplay with an acoustic blend of voice (Angela O’Toole), flute (Jeanette Behan), violin (Lisa Lazenby) and harp (Mary Keenan). Tonight, Highly Strung is very pleased to be sharing the stage with Milis, a locally based, all-ladies group whose harmonies and arrangements have been very enthusiastically received from audiences both at home and abroad. A donation from tonight’s concert will be made to a local charity, Friends of Naas Hospital.
