Our modern world is filled with challenges unique to our generation. Can I become famous? Do people pay enough attention to me? How can I stand out while still fitting in with everyone else? What perpetuates this desire for an unachievable level of perfection? Narcissism and its many guises will be explored in a series of plays by Griese Youth Theatre. (see also Saturday, 29th June)

Friday, 28th June – Double Bill.

Beetroot

New day, new school. Again. Zac falls victim to his mother moving on a whim, repeatedly having to make new friends in new places. But sometimes that’s easier said than done, especially when everyone’s got something to hide. So maybe its best just to keep his head down and wait till the inevitable happens and he ends up in the next new school.
Beetroot by Lucy Montague Moffet and performed by Griese Youth Theatre looks at young teenage life through the eyes of someone with an impermanent world, a world filled with secrets just waiting to be spilled.

Lucky Town

“Money can’t buy happiness” is a common phrase lost on a town when they win a lottery, dreaming of the wealth and fame the incoming economic development will bring to their town. However, a filmmaker sees this for what it really is and attempts to show the town what they take for granted.
Lucky Town by Fiona Keane and performed by Griese Youth Theatre shows the power of art. How we need to appreciate what we have instead of ignoring its worth, risking losing what’s of value in our midst?
