Imaginary Creatures and Faraway Lands
This workshop, with author Jane Mitchell, is aimed at a mixed group of budding young writers from 10-14 years. The event will start with warm-up writing exercises and whole-group activities to generate ideas and waken everyone up.
Combining a mix of writing tasks, small group exercises, whole-group activities and individual work, ‘Imaginary Creatures and Faraway Lands’ will provide young writers with the fundamentals of writing story, including plot and structure, characterization, setting, language and editing. The emphasis will be on fun, participation and learning creative writing skills. While participants should be able to write independently, perfect spelling is not expected. Everyone needs to bring pens, pencils, paper and lots of imagination.
