kildare1916

The Road to Rebellion with Philip Scott is brought to you by Kildare Decade of Commemorations Committee.

There will be five family friendly concerts held in each of Co. Kildare’s Municipal Districts to commemorate the 1916 Rising through the poetry, prose, and song.

Some of the songs included are Danny Boy, The Foggy Dew, The Minstrel Boy and The Soldier’s Song. Other songs featured will be The Old Bog Road by Teresa Brayton, and the poems of William A. Byrne and Tom Behan set to music for the first time.

A CD will be available for purchase on the night as a unique memento of the Co. Kildare Commemorative Programme.

This is one of the key cultural events of the Kildare Decade of Commemorations Committee 1916-2016 Programme. Philip Scott explores the music of the period, with readings by Liam Quinlivan. Special guests, Sophie O’Carroll (soprano) and Donal Hennessy (pianist).

All events are Free of Charge but tickets must be booked online via links below.
