The Fourth Wise Man
Balthasar, Melchior, Caspar and ...Jack?... Who's Jack?
THE FOURTH WISE MAN, by Johnny Hanrahan and John Browne is based on the old Eastern legend that one of the Magi never made it to Bethlehem because he was down the pub, washing the camel, engaging in casbah therapy or just generally too busy. It is a funny, moving tale of how one man finds his highway to heaven by setting off determinedly in the wrong direction.
A big child in the body of a mighty man, King Jack is led through a series of adventures with pedlars, lost girls, soldiers and nearly slaughtered innocents which bring him to a new understanding of love, the divine in everyday life and what being a king really means.
Commissioned originally by The Ark for its millennium programme, The Fourth Wise Man is a comic piece of musical theatre perfect for the countdown to Christmas.
