Midnight in Paris
This week we salute Midnight in Paris (again) ...one of the year’s best films. Tara Brady, Irish Times

Woody Allen is back on form with this light-as-a-feather fantasy about 20s bohemian Paris, which (incredibly) is already the most commercially successful of his career. It's a funny, slight comedy whose time-travel conceit is managed effortlessly. Standing in for Allen himself Owen Wilson plays Gil, a youngish Hollywood screenwriter who is visiting Paris with his egocentric social-climbing fiancee, Inez (Rachel McAdams), and her wealthy, neo-xenophobic parents. One night, while Gil is walking the streets of Montmartre he is transported back to the 1920s and confronts the illusion that a life different from one’s own is better.
