Me and the Sea
'Brilliant. moving, poignant and funny, it has a stunning combination of the qualities of a child's life, beautifully conjured. This performance leaves you feeling you have had a very special experience'. Liz Wiliamson, Year 5 class teacher, St Mary Magdelen School, Brighton.

The production combines lyrical new writing with the company’s skilful blend of table-top puppetry, live cello and physical performance.

‘It all began a while ago, oh quite a while! When I was about the size...you are now. We went on our summer holidays to Yarmouth. In a caravan. Me, Dad, Mum and Rory. And it rained. '

Have you ever wanted things to slow down, the world to stop turning, the sea to stop? In this powerful and visual new play for young audiences we follow Craig, a boy who thinks he’s uncovered the secret of his father’s disappearance. His investigation will take him far out to sea, down into the undergrowth and up into the air in an exploration that delves into fisherman’s tales, the amazing science of butterfly migrations and the secret places of our own hearts.

The production is ideal for schools and family audiences, and explores family relationships, poetry and storytelling, and presents an exciting introduction to biodiversity and bug science. It has been designed for small scale studio presentation though provision can be made to tour into non-theatre spaces. The script has been awarded a Commendation by 2010's Trinity Guildhall International Young Playwrighting Competition who describe it as 'original, captivating and beautiful'.
